Physician Disability

Just a thought.  I think that physician disability should be considered in other situations such that if a resident becomes disabled, he is compensated at the lowest rate for a working physician.  We are not people to be in the service as a resident for life and of course, if you are disabled as a physician in a residency program, you are only compensated at the low level of your residency income.  In truth, you are a physician qualified to be earning at a steady rate of maybe 100,000 a year or so in any situation as a complete M.D. and the idea of waiting for your compensation due to the misfortune of a disability does not really equate with a terrible situation of only being compensated at a low rate for the rest of your life.  You went to school to be a physician not a resident.  We should be compensated as physicians.   Just a thought.  If you have the time in your career and the consideration, please take up this idea and see if you and your connections can modify the physician disability system.  It is pretty terrible to be in a situation as a doctor where you might have to think you may only have enough financial ability that you might have to go into section 8 housing even after a full medical school career and otherwise you were taking care of your patients.     Lawyers do not need to do a residency and go right to work.  Why should those who seek to heal others suffer for the reason that their job is much more intricate and demanding.  This to me seems to be a challenge we can meet.
